Polished Concrete sydney - Mechanical and commercial

Mechanically Polished Concrete

Mechanically Polished Concrete is a process where the actual concrete itself shines and reflects not a topical sealer or coating. This process is generally suitable and recommended for indoor flooring surfaces only. We don’t recommend it for outdoor areas as it can be slippery when wet and the mechanically polished concrete floor does not like liquids penetrating or pulling on the surface for long periods of time (i.e rain). Besides, this service is highly appreciated in airports, shopping malls and in large areas subject to high traffic of people.

Processes of Concrete Polishing

Mechanically Polished Concrete or better known as MPC is a process which may involve Grinding, Polishing or both depending on what finish you desire. Basically the process/system involves a number of different stages of grinding, grouting and densifying or hardening of the concrete floor before we polish it a number of times to get the desired level of sheen/reflection. We can offer this flooring service in a matte, semi gloss or high gloss finish and in nil exposure, minimal exposure, hit and miss finish or full aggregate/stone exposure. Hence if you would like full exposure know that it will cost more as it takes us longer to do our initial grind, the same goes for the high gloss finish because we have to polish extra steps.

Floor Polishing benifits & Costing

A Polished Concrete floor finish is actually the cheapest and healthiest flooring solution available on the market. Why the cheapest? When you look at it over a 15-20 year period, the MPC surface is naturally polished with a penetrating sealant and you don’t need to re-coat with a new topical sealer every few years. Why the healthiest? The MPC floor is so refined that it will not support the growth of toxic mould or dust mites, which is great for asthma or other allergy sufferers. The most amazing part is that the upkeep is minimal and the floor is long lasting.

Why to choose mechanically Polished concrete floor?

Easy Maintenance

The nature of the surface means that less effort is required to keep the floor clean. Up-keep is minimal. Just use a dry microfiber mop to clean, and to use warm water with a neutral cleaner. Keep all acidic products away from polished surfaces.

Improved Reflectivity

Increases ambient lighting, making spaces fill with more light organically.

Resistent to Staining

The mechanical polished concrete floor is ultimately polished tightly becoming less porous. The MPC process seals the concrete floor and makes it dense enough to be resistant to water, oil and other contaminants. We also seal the floor after the polish which effectively protects the floor even more.

Good Aesthetic

No dirty grout lines, no yellowing, no fading and no re-coating.
